Focus and Scope

Finance and Society interrogates how financial practices emerge from and reshape the social world. It offers a unique post-disciplinary platform, publishing empirical and theoretical research in which the social substance of finance takes precedence. The journal explores tensions between established and emerging perspectives on finance and society, forging synergies between on-going research in fields such as political economy, economic sociology, cultural economy, organisational studies, and the social studies of finance, as well as philosophy, literary criticism and the contemporary arts. Key issue areas on which the journal focuses include – but are not limited to – the sociology of financial modelling, the socio-technical dimensions of financial innovation, the micro and macro-politics of financial regulation, and the cultural mediations of finance.
